Project SMART Goals
The Project SMART Goals checklist is a suggested timeline to help you keep track of the different components of this project. Download a copy of the SMART Goals Checklist (Google spreadsheet) to guide you through the InterSECT experience. The format populates the first task with today’s date, suggests dates to finish a job sim, and sets a follow-up information conversation with a professional.
SMART
Specific: Is it focused and unambiguous?
Measurable: Could you determine whether or not you achieved this goal?
Action - Oriented: Could you determine whether or not you achieved this goal?
Realistic: Considering difficulty and timeframe, is this goal attainable?
Time-Bond: Did you specify a deadline?
Sample
Rather than setting “write the article” as a goal, SMART goals could be:
write the abstract and send to colleague by Wednesday
select a journal for the submission by Thursday
spend 60 minutes writing every Friday morning
